Placitas Trails
There is a nice network of trails between the north end of the Sandias and NM165. There are some easier trails out on the prarie and some more difficult ones up in the foothills to the east. Surface is mostly hardpack and gravel with brown/pink granite and dark red sedimentary rocks. There are some pinon and juniper trees at the higher elevations. The higher Sandias at this point are all wilderness. There are also a few, often sandy trails north of 165. Placitas Area Trails Association's Website. They also have a Facebook page.
